Evelyn was born in Mexico, where she spent a significant amount of her formative years. She moved to San Diego when she was in middle school. At a young age, she learned the transformative power of education. She understood that education meant power and power was directly related to having choices in society. Evelyn attended San Diego State University for her undergraduate and graduate studies. She completed her B.A. in Psychology and Spanish. She also earned a M.A. degree in Education with emphasis in Counseling, an Educational Specialist degree, and a School Psychology credential. Given her personal and professional experience, Evelyn is a passionate educator who strongly believes in educational equity and access for all students. Some of Evelyn’s favorite self-care activities include playing soccer, hiking, and traveling!
