Lauren grew up in east county San Diego and is thrilled to be back home. She received her undergraduate degrees in History and German Studies from Stanford University, where she studied abroad for a year in Berlin. Following graduation, she taught ESL for four years: two in South Korea, two in San Diego. She then moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where she taught 7th grade ELA and History, coached volleyball, and tried to stay cool in the heat. She joined the KIPP:NYC family in 2015 as a writing teacher. While at KIPP:Washington Heights, she also served as 6th grade level chair, KTC advisor, head of the writing, painting, and comic book clubs, mentor to new teachers, and History department chair. She is passionate about social justice and making sure every KIPPster makes it to and through college. Outside of school, she loves spending time with her family (especially their dogs), watching plays and musicals, hiking, reading, and playing volleyball on the beach.
