Kevin is a Southern California native and has been living in San Diego for the past five years. He attended the University of the Pacific playing on the NCAA division one men’s volleyball team that was ranked as high as seventh in the country while he was on the squad. After earning a bachelors degree Kevin went on a journey to coach volleyball at colleges all across the country. He made stops at the University of Nebraska to be an assistant coach for the women’s volleyball program and eventually got back to California to help coach the men’s volleyball program at his alma mater. While coaching he earned two masters, one from the University of the Pacific in Education Administration Leadership and another one in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific. During Kevin’s time as a graduate student, he taught at Aspire in Stockton, CA as a K-12 physical education teacher and high school athletic director. Also, Kevin had the pleasure of being a community college professor and head volleyball coach for five years. “I am thrilled to be on the KIPP Adelante team as a physical education teacher. Over the years coaches, teachers and professors have helped shape my life. My goal at KIPP is to encourage students to attend college and I was fortunate that volleyball was my ticket to enroll in college. Physical education and athletics can be an amazing incentive to get students to be scholars in the classroom. My hope is to get our athletes’ at KIPP Adelante to be scholar-athletes and strive to play athletics in college. I look forward to bringing KIPP Adelante to greater heights. “Onward”! Outside the classroom, Kevin enjoys beach volleyball, indoor volleyball, playing guitar, being a San Diego Downtown Breakfast Rotarian, reading books about coaches, spending time with his family and exploring all the great sites in America’s finest city.
